Whether they are well-known landmarks or hidden gems, these are my favorite spots in Madeira for proposal wedding photography, complete with their pros and cons. I will help guide you in planning a truly intimate moment, even in the most popular locations.
Pico Arieiro
Better at sunset - 400€
Pico do Arieiro is of course very famou, but it’s an iconic spot. Even if it’s crowded it’s easy to go around and find some space where no one go to be with calm and quite for no one to see you doing your proposal. The big “BUT” is, the weather ! Conditions need to be good, and this, we barely know only on the day before or sometimes on the same day. Prepare a big jacket, just in case

Secret Ocean/Cliff Spot
Better at sunset - 300€
One of my favorite secret ! This spot is close to Funchal and will only take you a 20/25 min drive from the capital and present the huge advantage to be not known from tourists. I also personally like it because you need to walk a very cute path to reach the final end point, and it offers great possibilities to shoot more photos before and/or after the proposal.

Funchal Hill's
Better at sunset - 250€
I love this spot because is not only close to Funchal but also because not known from tourists. It’s easy to access, and barely never disapointting as it’s often sunny in Funchal.

Fanal Forest
Can be any moment of the day - 400€
If you want a highly unique, moody, and dramatic backdrop, Fanal Forest is incredible. Known for its ancient trees and iconic mist, it offers a magical and very private atmosphere.
- Its massive size guarantees complete privacy for the big moment. Plus, the signature fog creates incredibly flattering, cinematic lighting.
- Far from Funchal. Unpredictable mountain weather and much colder temperatures. Bringing a jacket for between shots is a must!
Seixal Beach
Better at sunrise - 400€
This northern beach features dramatic black sand framed by lush, towering green mountains, reminiscent of a fantasy movie.
- Exceptionally photogenic year-round, especially during summer sunrises with the green cliffs in the background.
- Far from Funchal. Best experienced during low tide, which requires careful timing to get the perfect setting.
Crane viewpoint (Guindaste)
Better at sunrise - 400€
The Crane Viewpoint offers spectacular scenery, but timing is key to avoiding the daytime crowds. For the best, most private experience, I recommend shooting just after sunrise to catch the lingering golden light, or about an hour before sunset for a beautifully quiet atmosphere.

Raposeira
Better at sunset - 350€
Miradouro da raposeira is 45 min drive away from funchal but quite scenic and dramatic point of view, between high cliffs and ocean, where you are very likely to be alone. It offer that “hawaian” vibe that lots of people like in Madeira.

East Hidden Little Beach
Better at sunrise - 400€
A distinct, natural black volcanic sand beach nestled on the eastern coast of the island. ONLY WORKS AT LOW TIDE !
- Advantage: Wonderfully quiet and secluded during the winter and spring months, or at sunrise and sunset in summer.
- Inconvenient: Becomes heavily packed with visitors during the daytime in the summer season.
East Point - Sao Lourenço
Better at sunrise - 400€
Known for its otherworldly landscapes, São Lourenço is a stunning, year-round location for engagement photos. It is perfectly suited for any season and any time of day (still better at sunrise)— just come prepared for a wonderfully windy and dramatic shoot!

The Plan
We discuss your vision. I send you location pins and tips to ensure total privacy. We set the time and the exact meeting point.

The Scenario
I will be on location early, pretending to shoot landscapes. I will casually approach you to offer to take a photo of you two (or you can ask me!). This creates a natural interaction and allows me to position you perfectly for the best light and background.

The Question
Once you are framed and I give you the signal (or while I pretend to count "1, 2, 3..."), that is your moment. You drop to one knee. I am right there, ready to capture the raw emotion up close, perfectly sharp and composed.

The Session
After the "Yes" and the tears of joy, we spend 1 hour together for a relaxed engagement session to celebrate your new chapter.
